The network of Budapest consists of three lines: the M1, yellow line (Vörösmarty tér - Mexikói út), the M2, red line (Déli pályaudvar - Örs vezér tere), the M3 (blue line Kőbánya / Kispest - Újpest / Központ). There is only one node interchange between the three lines: Deák Ferenc tér. The M1, called "Földalatti" World Heritage Site, was inaugurated by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1896, is the second oldest subway in the world after London and the first in continental Europe. Underwent a major renovation from 1970 to 1973, even with the replacement of old rolling stock. M4 line, green line, is currently under construction (opening of the first leg is scheduled for 2010) while also planned a line M5, purple line.
